This popular flight instructor manual began as a series of letters to hundreds of glider flight instructors during 1985 and 1986. With their participation, the letters developed into the first comprehensive glider flight training manual, published in 1987. A second edition was published in 1998 after the FAA rewrote licensing requirements. The third edition was written in 2001 when the FAA introduced further changes to flight training regulations. This latest, 2017 edition has further improvements. Included are flight training syllabus lesson plans, and written tests for ab-initio and transition pilots with descriptions of how to teach each lesson. The Glider CFI Judgment Training Manual gives flight instructors detailed methods to introduce judgment training as described in the student manual, Judgment Training Manual for Glider Pilots.
